A Birchola is a guitar-vocal duo, formed by a Frenchwoman and an Italian, in love with Brazilian music. With voice and guitar, Agathe Francopoulo and Frank Cosentini pay homage to the masters of Brazilian song through a chosen repertoire, ranging from bossa nova to the most popular samba, imitating their language and style with authenticity and personal arrangements.

The duo met in the fall of 2017 during a specialization course in Brazilian music with maestro Laurent de Oliveira (pianist of Salomé de Bahia, Ricardo Vilas, Marcello Ferreira, among others). In the continuity of this in-depth study of the rhythms and codes of Brazilian music, they decided to set up their own project by taking advantage of a common musical understanding and sensitivity, and chose a repertoire that would express the beauty of Brazilian music in all its nuances, exploring the full range of emotions it can contain, from the most subtle saudade to the liveliest rhythms of the samba, to pieces that are nuggets of Brazilian song, from all eras.

Since then, the duo has been performing regularly in Parisian cafes, concert halls and theaters, and in all kinds of public or private events in an intimate or more festive atmosphere, and has since landed all over France, and also in Italy, Switzerland and Rio. The duo sometimes grows and boasts several collaborations including Maurizio Congiu, Bruno Marmey, and the collective Zabumba.
