Michele Fraternali
Michele Fraternali live concert
MICHELE FRATERNALI discovers music already in his intrauterine life being born in a family of musicians (non-professionals), he follows in his father's footsteps playing the keyboard from the age of 9 and then switching to the electric bass at the age of 15 as a self-taught, he later develops studies in musical harmony together with the master Mario Alessandri from Cesena.
He began in his teens to perform live with the first Rock-like bands with the "Lucky Men" (winners Lizard Forlì 2009); together with the "Kleos" (winners in 2011 of MusicAcademy Rimini, Rock N' Rolla and Revolution Rock in Rimini) and then moved on to Soul-Funk with the "Soul Stream" reaching the finals in 2016 at the Festival Show in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
In the following years he explored different musical genres from Italian singer-songwriter through the project "GIOEL" (together with drummer Gianluca Nanni) and the "Anima Libera" (a tribute to Lucio Battisti) and then performed with bands of different musical genres from Reggae to Rythm&Blues to Latin music with the "Charanga Moderna" from Bologna.
In 2019 he collaborated with the project "Es Nova," an extemporaneous music research collective directed by Nicola Rosti performing in the album "Politika" released in February 2019.
He has collaborated with artists from the Rimini scene (Antonio Toni, Alberto Bastianelli), the MAG project (Gabriele Magnanelli, together with drummer Franco Caforio, former Litfiba) recording the bass parts of the album "Sailing in the dark" released in late 2021 and with the Rimini rapper "Fadamat" with whom he made a "Bass and Rap" duo.
In January 2021, he released his first solo EP entitled "In The Bass Room," a record recorded with the exclusive use of electric bass.
Continuous research and a keen curiosity in music lead Michele to develop technical skills on the electric bass with the intention of giving luster and recognition to the instrument without denaturing what are the "original" sounds.
Also in 2021 he performs in the album "DaDa Music" by the "Liquid Session Trio," a trio of impromptu music based on improvisation and sound interaction in the Blues/Funk and Fusion mold;
He currently performs live with "B+Positivo," a bass and vocal duo together with his cousin Benedetta Aluigi, and with the solo project performing his own songs with only electric bass.
In 2022, he entered the national finals of the Tour Music Fest competition for the "Bass Musicians" category in San Marino and the "NoveNoveStudio Promuovilatuamusica.it" finals in Milan.
He released his second solo album "In The Bass Magic" in 2023, an evolution of the first work, again with the "electric bass only" formula.
Main musical influences come from: Tony Levin, Marcus Miller, Henrik Linder, System of a Down, Jaco Pastorius, Michael Manring, Frank Zappa, Metallica, Genesis, Victor Wooten, King Crimson, Andy C Saxton, Dream Theatre, Peter Gabriel, Pheriphery, John Zorn.
