Federico Sirianni & Merakee
La promessa della felicità

Federico Sirianni, a singer-songwriter from Genoa, has been described as “the heir to the great Genoese school of singer-songwriters,” the same tradition that produced legendary artists such as Fabrizio De André, Gino Paoli, Umberto Bindi, Luigi Tenco, and Bruno Lauzi.
In his thirty-year career, Sirianni has received numerous prestigious awards from the most important Italian institutions dedicated to songwriting: in 1993 he made his debut at the Tenco Prize, in 1994 he won the Critics' Prize at the Musicultura Festival, in 2006 he received the Bindi Prize, in 2010 the Lunezia Doc Prize, in 2017 he was awarded a Special Mention by Club Tenco during the Music Against the Mafia event, and in 2023 he was once again a guest at the Tenco Prize, performing on the stage of the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo.
His live activity is continuous and tireless, with around a hundred performances each year, mostly in Italy, but also across Europe, with stops in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and Greece.
He has released six albums, each with its own distinct personality: his debut album Onde Clandestine (2002) is a musical journey through Eastern Europe; Dal basso dei cieli (2006) explores blues and west-mex territories; in 2013 he released Nella prossima vita, created in collaboration with the classical-contemporary quartet Gnu Quartet; in 2016 Il Santo, a secular-religious narrative, blends folk and electronic music; in 2021 Maqroll, inspired by the literature of Colombian writer Álvaro Mutis, is an experimental album with electronics and strings at the forefront. The album was a finalist for the 2022 Tenco Prize in the category “Best Italian Album of the Year.”
In 2023, he collaborated with violinist and composer Michele Gazich on the album Domani si vive e si muore, setting to music some previously unpublished lyrics by Michele L. Straniero, the creator of the musical-cultural collective Cantacronache and a forerunner of modern Italian songwriting.
Sirianni has collaborated with both Italian and international artists, not only in the musical field: from Greg Cohen (longtime bassist for Tom Waits) to illusionist Arturo Brachetti, from British songwriter Allan Taylor to circus performer Django Edwards, to name just a few.
Alongside his live and studio work, Sirianni has for years led songwriting workshops in schools, supported by the Liguria Region; he has taught Songwriting at the Holden School in Turin and participated in the Folksinger project organized by the DAMS of Genoa-Imperia.
Sirianni presents his new album La promessa della felicità (Squilibri Editore), whose title track was among the five finalists for the 2024 Targa Tenco award in the “Best Song of the Year” category. The show blends songs and readings exploring the possibility of being happy—or at least living a life that truly resembles who we are.
On stage with him, the duo Merakee: Veronica Perego on double bass and Valeria Quarta on vocals and percussion.
