David Celia

David Celia is an innovative singer-songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire, known for his spontaneous live performances. His songs have an alternative-folk style that has also been described as "Beatlesque."

He frequently tours in Canada and Europe, where he has played at festivals such as Glastonbury (UK), Blue Balls (CH), Le Rock (FRA) and others. He is also a producer, and has worked with More Please!, Mike Celia, Plants and Animals, and most recently with German/Spanish singer/songwriter Marla. David has played with Canadian folk legends Ian and Sylvia, and Gordon Lightfoot is a fan. After playing as a sideman for Emiliana Torrini, he was invited to be one of the headliners at the 2016 Braedslan Festival in Iceland.

His latest solo album, "Double Mind," is a collection of songs written and developed during an intense touring schedule in Europe and North America. Entirely self-financed and produced, the album embraces a diversity of genres from the past while at the same time managing to sound completely fresh and current. The songs are a lyrical and musical reflection of timeless and various topics; everything from lost and new-found love to the rigors of being a working, independent artist and all points in between. Themes of "pay-it-forward" thinking, insecurity, confidence, humour, and sardonic wit abound. 

Overall, the mood is joyously optimistic with more than it's share of instantly memorable and compelling songs which captivate and stay with you after just one listen. This album proves once again that David Celia is an innovative and relevant artist, consistently growing and challenging himself. His latest work is with Marla & David Celia. They’ve recently joined actor/musician Kiefer Sutherland as the support act for the second time in Germany. They also played main stage at Mariposa Folk Festival before Blue Rodeo this past summer.
