Marzia Zambianchi trained at the professional circus arts academy INAC, in Portugal, where she followed a three-year training course specialising in aerial circus. During her artistic career she performed solo and in groups in Italy, France and Portugal. Always in search of a personal expressive language, he tries to merge circus technique with urban space, dance and theatre, thus freeing himself from the use of a single circus tool, but putting himself at the service of the story to be told and the place that hosts it, searching for and studying new methods of storytelling through the body.
Chipko
'Chipko' in Hindi means 'to cling', indicating the main protest technique used by an environmental movement of Indian women in the 1970s: hugging trees destined to be cut down, and refusing to move. From the need to return to a more natural rhythm, from the desire that natural space be protected and become a place for people to gather again, the idea of creating a performance mounted entirely on a tree was born. But during the creation I came to a conclusion: there are no trees anywhere old enough to sustain a performance. An alarming concept, when you think about it. This quest became a walk, a path that takes the audience through urban space, sometimes passing through a garden, a street, entering a supermarket, stopping on a bench... a modern-day Eden. Here, Eva lives on that very tree of knowledge through which her life has changed perspective, and during her ascent she invites us to stay, to take off our shoes, to live an experience that leads us to slow down the pace and get closer to Nature... A participatory and itinerant journey, in which the public walks together with the character in this story, the urban and natural space become the stage for dance, theatre and circus, the main expressive languages used during the performance.
