My!Laika is a circus company founded in 2009 to create pieces of movement, music and image.
The shows are the result of long chains of distorted associations, placing the actors' artistic disciplines and affections in a context of amoral theater, avoiding linear narrative and immediate understanding. The first show Popcorn Machine, after debuting and being recognized by Jeunes Talents Cirque 2010, toured numerous theaters and marquees in Europe and abroad.
The company has performed in prestigious settings such as Avignon, Barcelona's Grec, Madrid's Circo-Teatro Price, Festival des Arts de Valparaiso, Circa en Auch and several national scenes.
My!Laika is also busy performing in more alternative festivals such as Fusion and At.tension Festival (Lärz), Cirkobalcana (Belgrade and Zagreb), Mischto (Nancy), Jetlag Festival (Amsterdam, Toulouse), Valdemone Festival (Sicily) and many others.
The company's second Kunst-Cirque project is the creation of a circus tent: Side Kunst-Cirque (2014). Entirely self-produced, the circus tours Europe with Popcorn Machine in a tent version and the new shows, created especially for Side: Dekalé (2014), Radio Tagada (2015), Stupid Palace (2017), Laerte (2019). June 2022 sees the debut of Winter, which joins Laerte on current tours. Domoi (2016) is an in-situ performance that adapts to the space each time. As such, each performance of this show is a "premiere," which allows for a very flexible cast.
Winter
A thousand stories meander and coexist in the piano room. In the phantasmagoria of abandonment, time flows erratically between dusty collapses.
Centuries can pass in moments, and here we are in the ruins of an old museum where strange characters traverse the scene and multiple stories.
A great avalanche of images flowing inexorably and slowly toward the cold end of an inner winter. Ontological disquisitions on death, weather and the consistency of a Calippo ice cream accompany the audience and actors on a journey that winds through overlapping figures, songs and small circus feats.
The "magie poubelle" technique, with a self-mockery typical of kunst-cirque, brings drama out of the desperate feeling of being frozen on this planet. Thus, breaking the limit of formal exposition, the show questions itself to find a way out of itself and its unusual spectres.
Performers: Salvatore Frasca, Philine Dahlmann, Edoardo Demontis, Maristella Tesio.
