PERHAPS CONTRAPTION is an award-winning brass band from London. Part choir, part chamber orchestra, part avant rock, they create a truly unique musical experience, fusing elements of jazz, punk, art pop and post-minimalism.

Their intense and exuberant performances won the Haizetara International Street Music Competition (Spain) in 2014 and 2015, the Jury Prize at the Cirque et Fanfare Festival (France) and the Help Musicians Emerging Excellence Award in 2013.

Artists in residence in Snape Malting's prestigious 'Open Space' programme during 2017-19, the ensemble created a new theatre experience called Nearly Human, which won the 2019 LET (Les Enfants Terribles) award for new theatre and debuted as part of the Pleasance Futures programme at Edinburgh Fringe 19.

The performance was nominated for an Offie Award in the IDEA (Innovative/Ideated/Experiential/Agraphical) category, and received critical acclaim and numerous sold-out labels.

The unique sound of Perhaps Contraption is full of irregular but irresistible rhythms, great choral harmonies and triumphant horns.

They have performed in many different venues including Glastonbury Festival, The EFG London Jazz Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, Bestival, Sudtirol Jazz Festival (Italy) London Roundhouse, The Royal Academy of Arts, Wilderness, Southbank Centre, Cross Linx (Netherlands) Latitude, Artisti in Piazza (Italy), Buskers Bern (Switzerland), numerous Honk! Festivals (USA) and tours in Europe in support of Amanda Palmer.
