For a Salento musician of today everything comes from where everything has roots, that is, from tradition. The deep relationship with tradition is felt as "original," almost an obsession with meanings archaic ancients. Something religious, or rather "devotional" that one cannot do without. The texts of the folk repertoire seem clear and explicit at a first reading, but then they turn out to be full of subtexts and ambiguities. This land that has the sea on either side, makes you an expert of that poetic expectation, reminds you of something melancholy, of "Atlantic" as in Portuguese fado.
The duo traces a definite path, a succession of folk tunes, homages to female voices and unreleased pieces. It goes up , one leap after another, from the traditional music of Southern Italy to Italian folk songs (Rosa Balistreri, Gabriella Ferri, Domenico Modugno) and of the world (Edith Piaf, Amalia Rodriguez, Chavela Vargas).
