Eastern Spaghetti brings back to life the divas and crooners of 1960s and ’70s Italy. A warped guitar, a distorted bass, and a saturated accordion whisper to Francesca, who—with her dark and velvety voice—takes us on a journey through the psychedelic landscapes of a retro Italy.
The band began as a duo with Francesca Del Gatto (a Tuscan from Livorno) and Xabi Eliçagaray (a Basque from Bayonne). Together, with two voices and an accordion, they started traveling across countries by road, singing with spontaneous passion. When they began recording, they crafted a unique sound: rock/surf phrasing with electric guitars, a mix of drums and ethnic percussion, gypsy-inspired accordion lines, all supported by a melodic bass.
They were offered a concert gig. For that, they brought in Mauro Paganini on guitar (Argentina), Ivan Tomasevic on bass (Chile), and Igor Binsbergen on drums (Netherlands). The orchestrina was ready! All that remained was to take it to various stages and face all kinds of audiences…
