Eia Compañia de Circo

The “Eia” Circus Company (which means "yes" in Sardinian, “élans imprévus accordés” in French, “unexpected surges granted” in Italian) was founded in 2009 from the merger of two groups: Armando Rabanera, Fabrizio Giannini, Cristiano Della Monica (Cirque Vague, Circo de la Sombra, and Le Grand Osim Orchestra), and Francesca Lissia and Celso Pereira (Celso y Frana).

With 15 years of experience as a collective and six productions (CAPAS, inTarsi, Espera, La Pranza!, NUYE, and La Piedra de Madera) that have performed over 600 times across 25 countries, Compañía de Circo “eia” is one of the leading names in the Spanish and European Contemporary Circus scene. At the heart of their artistic vision is a human circus, capable of evoking metaphors that explore the complexity of interpersonal relationships and advocate for a free culture that allows us to grow as a community.

Currently, they continue to enjoy meeting audiences with international tours of NUYE, Espera, and La Piedra de Madera, while also developing a new creation titled Secrets. At the same time, they have opened up new artistic and professional pathways dedicated to the transmission and exchange of knowledge, mentoring emerging companies and directing shows and events.

Espera is a participatory circus performance in which the audience is invited to experience the acrobatic action on stage firsthand. When the boundary between stage and audience disappears, the show becomes an opportunity to share a collective experience—meeting the gaze of strangers and listening with the body. Set in an atmosphere that transports us to a timeless place of simple gestures, the acrobats become artisans of movement, conjuring lost landscapes filled with human gestures and genuine encounters.

Winner of the 2017 Critics’ Prize for “Best Street Show” and Festival TAC Valladolid 2017 Award for “Best Show”.
