The company Madame Rebiné was founded in 2011 in Toulouse, developing a project that began in Turin in 2007, when Andrea Brunetto, Max Pederzoli, and Alessio Pollutri met at the Flic circus school.
Their background includes years of study at renowned European schools (Le Lido in Toulouse, Balthazar in Montpellier, Katakomben in Berlin, Escola Luthier in Barcelona) and ten years of production experience that allowed them to continue their training under the guidance of directors such as Mario Gumina, Roberto Magro, and Andrea Fidelio.
Since 2021, the company has been based in Italy, in San Quirino (PN), and since 2022 it has been supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture as a contemporary circus production company.
Over the years, they have developed their own approach to contemporary languages, balanced between innovation and tradition, poetry and comedy, virtuosity and simplicity.
Their shows appeal to a wide-ranging audience across different ages and cultures, and every year they explore new themes and research directions while maintaining the freshness and lightness of a game among friends.
A special focus is placed on street theatre, so that casual passersby can stumble upon high-quality performances that go beyond mere entertainment.
Filò – chiacchierata sul Novecento con gli anziani del Friuli-Venezia Giulia (A Chat about the Twentieth Century with the Elderly of Friuli Venezia Giulia) is part of a research path the company has pursued since 2011, when in the show Il Paziente, they staged an elderly character through the use of silicone masks.
In no time, Grandpa Claude became the protagonist of their poetic universe, thanks to the immediacy with which he evokes existential themes dear to the group: the contrast between comedy and poetry, tenderness and cruelty, altruism and selfishness, suffering and euphoria, fear and recklessness—deeply human contradictions that are heightened in old age, transforming the elderly into a natural clown.
Over time, Madame Rebiné has continued to explore this topic with shows like La riscossa del clown (2015), La Burla (2023) and STRIKE! Clown in sciopero (2024). But it was only with Filò that the company finally involved real grandparents in a project, creating a documentary filmed in nursing homes throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia.Through games, interviews, circus performances, and dancing, the elderly took part in a project that tells the story of the twentieth century through their voices and memories. Inspired by the ancient filò—evening gatherings in rural homes—this work does not aim to be exhaustive but rather to encourage spontaneous, intergenerational dialogue in a welcoming, convivial environment.
