Gistri Human Theatre
La Strizzacervelli di Piazza

La Strizzacervelli di Piazza transforms public space into a place for sharing surreal and symbolic visions. Out of knots and questions, unexpected encounters arise: the performer listens and responds with gestures, words, and poetic actions. Between play and irony, our small everyday monsters begin to emerge, along with the possibility of rewriting, together, the stories that inhabit us.
OFF show: the company or the performance receives no fee from the organizers. Be generous!
Chiara Gistri, also known as Gistri Human Theatre, is a multidisciplinary artist active in the performing arts, with a language that blends figure theatre, vocal research, and ritual dimension, marked by a strong symbolic and visual imprint. Her practice explores public space as a way for art to cross into reality, and audience involvement as a direct form of dialogue, with particular attention to mental health as a social and political issue.
In 2021, together with visual artist Matteo Raciti, she founded the collective Kalligeneia Teatro, inspired by the model of La Fura dels Baus. With the collective, she develops site-responsive performances and street shows, taking part in festivals such as Artisti in Piazza (Pennabilli) and Incanti (Turin), including La Parata di Marco Cavallo (Venaria Reale, Piazza Castello – Turin), touring across Italy and collaborating with local and national institutions, including Casa del Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani, Vimercate Festival, Con-vivere Festival, and the municipalities of Padua, Catania and Maiori.
In 2023, she wrote the dramaturgy for her first work for children, Il Cielo in un Baule, co-produced by Movimenti Artistici Trasversali and La Terra Galleggiante, currently presented in national theatre contexts and circuits. In 2024, she took part as a guest artist in the curatorial project Mind Wanderers (Lavanderia a Vapore, Turin) with the participatory project La Fest@.
She has collaborated with artists and companies in Italy and abroad, including Gabriele Vacis, Casa del Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani, Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo, Teatro del Carretto, Teatro del Lavoro, Marcozzi Contemporary Theatre (Berlin), and Collectif Humagine (Geneva), deepening collective, site-specific, and participatory performance practices. She also works in training and education, collaborating with different groups and professionals in relation to individual projects.
