The show by Clown Tomate, the alter ego of Argentine clown Víctor Avalos, is a masterpiece of humanity. There are no big devices, no loud music, no special effects. There is a being who stumbles, doubts, desires, fails... and keeps going. Far from the clichés of childish humour, Tomate’s work moves between play, physical theatre and philosophy. It is a show to laugh at, certainly, but also one through which to acknowledge our own vulnerability.

Tomate is a clown, a jester, a being at times cruel and at times innocent, who interacts with the audience using his skill and wit to make them laugh and reflect. Over 33 years of laughter and applause, he has toured more than 27 countries with his solo show, inflating, blowing and bringing to life a series of absurd balloon-made characters.
Víctor “Tomate” Ávalos is the man behind the character of Clown Tomate. He is a magical Argentine comedian, an eccentric and sharp-edged clown, and an international balloon artist. His work focuses on building symbols, characters and theatrical devices with balloons in order to comment on social types, political structures, and to mock life itself: an unpredictable and irresistibly comic show. He won two awards at the Millennium Jam International as a specialist in creating comic balloon acts, held in Mol, Belgium. He held a Guinness World Record for two years (2016 and 2017) in Xiamen, China. For two years he was voted Best Clown at the Upa Chalupa Festival in Valparaíso, Chile.
