Teatro Necessario was founded in Parma in 2001 and for more than twenty years has carried out an intense activity of production, promotion, and dissemination of contemporary circus and urban theatre. Since 2022, the association has promoted TNC – Teatro Necessario Circo, one of the Contemporary Circus Production Centres recognised by the Italian Ministry of Culture. The first contemporary circus production company to be founded in Emilia-Romagna, the company is also among the founding members of A.C.C.I. – Associazione Circo Contemporaneo Italia.
Teatro Necessario’s performances weave together circus arts, theatre, mime, dance, and live music, giving life to a non-verbal language that is comic, refined, and deeply inclusive. Their creations, capable of speaking to very different audiences, have been presented in festivals and theatres in more than 30 countries across five continents.
