Julia Drouhin & Emiliano Battistini
Sonic Pic Nic Basket (for lullaby and soundscape improvisation)

Julia is a French-Australian sound artist and performer, noise maker and inventor. Emiliano is a musician and researcher with a passion for soundscapes. “Sonic Pic Nic Basket” is their first collaboration, created specifically for the 2025 edition of Artisti in Piazza: a performance-concert created to enhance the sounds collected during the SONORIA project (promoted by the Sasso Simone and Simoncello Park Authority in collaboration with Ultimo Punto) and share them through an artistic action open to all.
The Park's recordings-whether they are sounds of natural elements (streams, springs, wind in the trees, stones in the gullies, etc.), living things (mushrooms, plants, insects, birds, etc.) or human beings (folk songs and music, handicrafts, tractors, electric saws...)-will be sampled and used in the performance in dialogue with sound objects and musical instruments.
Julia and Emiliano will be dressed playfully and will speak a kind of grammelot that mixes the languages with which they usually speak to each other: English, Italian, French. The two performers will start with a popular song from Montefeltro and then set up a sound and noise improvisation that will also involve the audience: from time to time some people in the audience will be assigned toy microphones (the microphones with echo for karaoke) to talk, rap or sing with the performers, and dice, the throwing of which will determine a series of choices to feed the improvisation (from the choice of the musical instrument, to the number of people to be involved at a certain moment of the performance, etc.).
The result is an open and participatory concert under the banner of cross-cultural and interspecific encounters and the wonder of sound.
