During the Artisti in Piazza festival, the heart of the village of Pennabilli opens up to play and wonder with the CAIMERCATI Play Area: a vibrant and engaging space where children, families, and adults of all ages can play, create, explore, and have fun together.

The company Caimercati Giochi di Strada, active since 2001, brings its personal vision of an “ephemeral playground” to Pennabilli: a large handcrafted setup built with recycled materials, wood, fabric, metal, and objects reinvented with poetry and creativity.

The area features numerous interactive installations, wooden games, and much more to spark our manual and visual skills, encouraging movement, collaboration, and imagination for everyone. Among the many games, you’ll also find old pieces of furniture and more, reinvented to intrigue, amaze, and entertain the public.

The area is a creative and sensory space where everyone is free to explore materials, shapes, and paths. All elements are handcrafted and made from low environmental impact recycled materials: wood, fabric, rope, and metal — all reimagined with creativity to inspire play and discovery.

Designed as an open and inclusive space, the CAIMERCATI Play Area is a true sensory and relational experience, engaging people of all ages. It’s the perfect place to take a break between performances or to linger and build, invent, and imagine together.

A pedal-powered eco-carousel made up of eight black horses crafted from recycled materials, operating without a motor and driven entirely by pedals. The carousel operator, riding the bicycle positioned at the centre of the structure, sets it in motion while engaging the young riders with games and entertainment along the way, making them the protagonists of a fantastic ride. It is a journey back to the simplicity of gestures, capable of inspiring wonder even in adults, who remain enchanted as they watch.

The RiCiclo Pedal-Powered Carousel project was born from a focus on ecology and social values, with a zero-impact approach. It offers a simple and genuine experience of play and interaction for children aged 2 to 10, in contrast with the pace and devices of modern life, with the aim of raising awareness among both children and adults about respect for the environment.
